I was born and raised outside of Nashville, TN. I grew up playing sports until about 13 but was never what I would consider to be athletic. From there I fell out of sports and being active and got sucked into video games and being lazy. This lasted until about college when I didn't like what I saw in the mirror anymore and decided to do something about it. Unfortunately, I had no idea what I was doing and still ate and drank like a college student so the results were nonexistent. I had some buddies that did CrossFit in college but always thought I couldn't afford it on a college student budget (I could have but had mixed priorities). Eventually, once I graduated and got a job I decided to check it out and everything took off from there. I've now been doing CrossFit for 8 years and for 3 years I decided that coaching was a passion of mine and got my L1 and have been coaching on the side of my full-time job on and off for the last 5 years.
My turning point definitely came in college when I just got tired of being weak and out of shape. I wasn't happy with what I saw in the mirror. I had 0 confidence in going to a pool with my friends and taking my shirt off. I've struggled with self-confidence my entire life and finally decided to do something about it. It took me a few years to get it right and I'm still to this day tweaking things, learning more about myself, and making improvements (fitness is a never-ending journey) but it started with that first step into the gym.
I finally got into coaching because I realized one of the most satisfying things for me was helping others accomplish things (whether that be mentally or physically) that they never thought in a million years they were capable of. That feeling I felt when I PR'd or successfully hit a new movement that I used to not be able to do was nothing compared to the feeling I got when I helped someone else achieve those same things.
